Chips & Chunks

-How can people eat Twizzlers?!? It’s like flavored plastic! And still, I see many chewing on the damned things.

- It was so cold yesterday that I literally smacked my face because I didn’t want my cheeks to fall off.

- I hate buses. They manage to squeeze in between cars and they always get their way! I tend to honk when they slyly attempt to cram themselves in front of me; sometimes I let them through – because I have no choice- only to see them tread a few meters before stopping at the next block. I yell at them “Yal Bus!” as if it’s an insult. Then I mutter to myself, “Sij bus.” I hate buses.

- There is a cluster of Indians living on the 10th floor of my building. Every Friday, they seize the party room, invite hundreds of relatives and friends, and feast on deliciously seasoned home cooked meals. The crappy thing is that the party room is right next to the gym, so the yummy aroma of spices taunts me as I groggily jog my burgers and buns away.

- It’s almost time to go back home. I don’t know if I’m the only one who does this but a few days prior to my arrival, my dear mother calls and asks me what I want to eat for dinner. At first, I gleefully request the usual – grape leaves, salad – but then my requests turn into fiery instructions, “Mamy, I want your salad dressing…and tell Baba to bring Kanafani…no no, the soft one…okay…good…”

Snookie: Mmm I can taste it too! So what, you're going back home in the summer? Man, that's rough...I don't think I can bare not seeing my family and friends for that long...and of course, there's also the food factor :P

    Bloboz: Sweetened plastic.

You mock them because you don't know how to use them! (Twizzlers, not the bus)
Twizzlers have a hollow center .. use it like a straw and drink something fruity. Other than that they are pretty much useless as candy.

KKuwaiti: Hmmm...they can also be used as a softer, sweeter substitute for ruler spanking...just a thought...

"I hate buses" - Me too! Meee toooo! They're big and slow and annoying! >_<

3baid: Haha, welcome to the Anti-Buses Org. I hate 'em but I'm sort of afraid of them too.; they're just so big I'm afraid they'll squish me. I have this weird fear of buses keeling over and falling on top of me when they park next to me at traffic lights.

I was once eating some Twizzlers on the bus riding to an Indian party. Every time the bus made a pass, there would always be someone honking. Why are people so cranky when it's real cold outside?

DNA: Oh my God...that's horrible. Yeah well I don't do anything that drastic; I just do my usual frowning, grumbling, and occasional 'bus'-y rated words.

Temetwir: If I bang on my nose, well...I don't think I'd have one :P Brit vs. American English :P~~ And yeah, buses in the UK...I think buses are more acceptable there I mean everyone uses the bus when you're in downtown; owning a car in, for instance, London is SUCH a hassle...And about akel il ma6a3im: I would bet 10 K that my mom's cooking is better than any restaurant! ARGH! Seriously though...it's THAT good...and I don't mean typical Kuwaiti good...tiramisu, dolma, sponge cakes, mini pizzas that put Fayasel to shame (shame I tell you!) But yeah...if I do every run into you and I just HAPPEN to have a plate of goodies I will gladly give you a taste but I'm afraid you'll move into our house after that...it's THAT good! Yum...yum...YUMMMM!

Sami: Ahaaa...I see your devious pattern :)

So are buses in the States as obnoxious as buses in Kuwait? :P If that's the case then you have a right to hate them with a passion!

Hehe I love being asked what I want for dinner whenever I'm coming back to Kuwait :) Yalla to9leen b-salama inshalla

7tenths: I love marag simech but I'm afraid of the bones; my dad sometimes pinches off a piece and quickly throws the thing on my plate to avoid getting burned...lol, honk farts :P Yeah I think my brother's a fan...

SheWrites: You know it's not a bad idea...to make Twizzler's function more like straws. I mean think about it, a strawberry shake with Twizzler straws...when you finish the drink you can eat the now soggy piece of plasticized sugar...

Sedna: Allah esalmich - although it's more like mid-month but I can hear the drums rolling :)

I loved, loved, loved the tone of this post. You made me smile the whole time. :)

"Yal Bus" as if it's an insult. HA! I do that do, but ya as in you. Not sure what 'yal' is... unless you mean it in the southern twang sense of 'you'.

I start thinking of all the places I'm gonna eat about two weeks before I go back to the states. Then, when I'm there, I desperately miss fresh warm bread and moutabal. :-) Gives me something to look forward to coming back for!

McArabian: Sweet spot? Yeah I never got that from those damned straws. I must have dysfunctional taste buds, so kudos on yours :)

UnknownEntity: Lol isn't it so weird! Food puts you in the mood...for more food that's outta reach! When I go back home and stay there for a month - usually happens in Xmas - I miss the big, fat, juicy burgers here...Mmmmm...

Haha Yal bus! Sij bus! Something I would say!

Pedro: Hehe, the longer the better. Yeah, I tend to stick around for the first week or so lolling around in our house but then my friends take over :P Good luck on your exams as well :)
