Ramy Ramy Ramadan

Tomorrow is Ramadan, the month of pissy smokers, impish diabetics who sip their drinks and nibble on their food proudly in public, psychotic drivers, fatties on an exercise roll, drama queen fasters who behave as if dusk prayer is a year away, hornified individuals who prowl the country after 9 PM and born-again Muslims who call their genuine effort quits on the first day of Eid.

On the up side, I haven’t had yireesh or my uncle’s spinach soup in about two years. Yum.

    HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY!

Are you saying that we shouldn’t pray or fast since we don’t usually do that, hell i will be more than happy it’s less hypocritical this way, no?

Or maybe I should fast but not pray...Hmm I will think about it in the few hours left until the holly month.

Oh and RAMDAN KAREEM! What other greetings are there? ; P

May you witness as less “pissed smokers” as possible

chikapappi: Hehe, well I guess it's the other unmentioned side of Ramadan...why not point it out? :P And I don't get the crankiness. I mean everyone's fasting and a good bunch of people act as if they're on a mission to save the world. Wentay eb alf khair chikapappi :))

traveleer: Merry New Ramadan to you too traveleer :P

blue dress: I'm not saying what anyone should or should not do, but it just seems like people start praying for redemption out of guilt, which is understandable and natural but I personally can't help but smirk and raise an amused eyebrow at yesterday's drinkers who transform into preaching holy men and women for a month.

zahed: I think it's a great thing that Ramadan helps you cut down and hopefully quit for good but I cringe at smokers who think it's all right for their Grinch-like and ironically bad mood during fasting hours. Happy Ramadan to you too :))

I don't understand why people drive as if it's the end of the world when it's time for Futour!

If people are worried about arriving late for Futour speeding won't get them there any earlier, but what they can do instead is prepare a little meal they can have in the car until they get back home.

That's what I would do. Happy Ramadan ...

Hypocrisy in practising your religion! I mean you are talking about the pillars of Islam! Even if you don't get the point of fasting or praying, stick to them until you do.

Ramandan is a time to check one's self. So much can be gained or lost either way. You do make promises and attempt changes that may not last after the month is over. If you look at it from a worldly perspective you see it is a human struggle, like in new years and resolutions that slowly dissolve and remain unattained as months go by and another new year starts.

    مبارك عليكم الشهر

I do enjoy your posts :D

maryam: Well fasting isn't a new thing in religion, i mean its reasons are kind of obvious but people treat it as if it's the ultimate struggle to prove that "Hey,look! I did it! I didn't eat for 10 hours! I just took a few years of my residency in hell! Hurrah!"
After driving to my grandmother's house today, i realized that people broke their fast without knowing it by their driving. insane doesn't even begin to describe their suicidal whizzing down the road. absolutely atrocious. 'shame...
